Back to "Green"

Hi Everyone,

Wow! First full day of school today! It was great seeing everyone back.  Welcome to the new families this year.  For those new to the school I would like to introduce myself.. I'm Christine Loy, PAC co-chair for this year.  I will do most of the posting here at our Whiteside PAC blog with my fellow collaborators, the whole PAC executive council.  If you have any ideas on what to post in our PAC blog, please let us know!

What is PAC and who are the members?

It means Parent Advisory Council (or Committee).  Everyone is a part of the PAC, ALL parents/caregiver/guardians of students here in our school, Whiteside Elementary.  Every parent has a "say" on what goes on, issues that is of great importance to the student(s) and the school, and all other events during the school year.  By attending PAC meetings, you are able to listen, vote and share your opinions and concerns on important decisions the PAC makes.   We elect  Executives to help organize and facilitate fundraisers and events.   Join us on our monthly PAC meetings... Help and join us make this year a wonderful year for all of our kids!  For more information about PAC, visit http://www.bccpac.bc.ca/what-pac

The PAC executives are:

Co-Chairs:   Miwa Suzuki, Christine and Brennan Loy (Alternates).
Treasurer:    Scott Campbell

Reading Rocks!

Well, the book fair is over... the Whiteside library is back to normal except for the $401 worth of new books from Scholastic!  Our goal was $3500 and we sold over $4000!  That means the PAC raised $1100 plus $401 worth of beautiful books for our library. The book fair gave away over $100 worth of prizes during the fair.  We appreciate the parents who participated in the classroom "wish list" program.

A big thanks to the ENTIRE Whiteside staff, students and parents!

Last but not the least, a very HUGE thank you to all the parents who volunteered. Without your help and support, we won't be able to run the book fair.

Special Guest and Book Fair

What a fun morning we had today.   We had breakfast club first thing in the morning.  Bagels, juice, crackers and hot chocolate were in the menu.  Geronimo Stilton visited Whiteside!  He did an amazing job welcoming everyone to our school this morning.  Lots of smiles and fun guessing who is wearing Geronimo today.  Our book fair starts next week and our goal is $3500!  If we make the $3000 mark, maybe we can call Geronimo for another visit.

This was the sight that welcome most of our students and families this morning!

Mr. Stilton giving a thumbs up!

Special thanks to Scholastic Canada for lending Geronimo to us for the book fair. And Mr. David for being a good sport!

Book fair dates: October 17-20, Oct. 17 - Class sneak peeks only.
Volunteers are still needed for 3-3:30pm time slots. Please email whitesidepac@gmail.com for more information.
